In general: Remember you bear the Suncrown name for all to see. At all times behave in a manner that brings us honor. Do not let yourself be “that player from guild X” that was a jerk, rude, or impossible to group with.

In regards to role-play (RP): Try to keep your character as realistic (in our fantasy world) as possible.

Keep discussion in “say”, “yell”, and “guild” channels in character (More info on guild chat here). When grouped with all Suncrown members also try to keep the “party” channel IC as much as possible unless otherwise agreed upon. Propagate role-play! This is an “RP-PVP” server. Don’t let yourself be discouraged by others that don’t RP or mock you for doing so.

We encourage all members to take part in RP plot lines and events, but please utilize the forums to work out these ideas before springing them out in the game.

This does not mean your ideas need to be “approved” but if they involve other players or have a significant impact on RP let everyone know (we already have a forum dedicated to this end. If your idea is more private (secretive) use the site’s private messages to work it out with the involved players and keep those players up to date.

In regards to player vs. player (PvP): Suncrown will never require you to become involved in PVP. It is personally up to you who you kill and why you kill them. If you see someone being attacked, try to lend a hand - but we will never enforce PVP activity.

However, strictly NO camping other faction players by us first! Camping is allowed at most two or three kills if an opposite faction player is camping a Suncrown member.

If they have time, and the need arises, all members of Suncrown should make themselves available to help other Suncrowners if they are in a camping scenario.

In regards to player vs. Environment (PvE): Allow other players to play the game as they want to. Don’t issue orders. Its fine to suggest something, for example “We need to be sure to stop runners” but refrain from “Bob cast frost shock on mob X when I say so.”

Even in cases of an uncooperative player, be respectful, drop them from the group if the majority agrees, or leave yourself if need be.

While grouped, be respectful of each other’s needs. Follow traditional rolling rules (or party agreed rules if stated otherwise): roll greed unless you need (that means you wear it after you won). There should be no "calling" of specific items. Everyone should roll need on epic world drops and similar items.

Please remember at all times that your actions represent the face of this guild as a whole. So that means NO harassing any other players during quests and escorts. If we have the same quest targets, then they are fair game.

In regards to inactivity: Suncrown understands that life gets in the way of hobbies like World of Warcraft, and we by no means ask that World of Warcraft and / or Suncrown become the be-all-end-all of your existence. However, sudden and unexplained absences do often disrupt storylines and cause Suncrown's leadership to worry and wonder where you have gotten to. It also causes a messy guild roster.

Therefore, if you are a Petitioner within Suncrown and you haven't logged in or have been inactive for 15 days, you will be removed from the guild. If you are a Member within Suncrown and you haven't logged in or have been inactive for 30 days, you will be removed from the guild. If you are a Veteran, On Plot, or Officer within Suncrown and you haven't logged in or have been inactive for 45 days, you will be removed from the guild.

If you are aware of an extended absence from World of Warcraft upcoming in your schedule, please send a Private Message via Suncrown's Forums to our Guildleader, Valinmar. Please include the date of departure and an expected date of return. Doing this will keep you on Suncrown's Roster beyond the aforementioned cutoff time periods.

If you return to Suncrown after having been removed from the guild for inactivity, please adhere to the following steps:

(1) Contact an Officer or the Guildleader and let them know that you have returned, and that you'd like to come back to Suncrown.

(2) Write a small story explaining where your character(s) have been and what they have been doing that has kept them away.

(3) A small re-incorporation event will be held to welcome your character(s) home. At this time your guild-tag and forum permissions will be restored to the rank that you left us with.

(3a) The only exception to this is if you were On Plot or an Officer at your departure. If this was the case, then your rank will be restored to the level of "Veteran". While it is possible that your duties as On Plot or as an Officer can be resumed, this will require some discussion on Suncrown's leadership's part.

However, please be aware that Suncrown is not a "revolving door" guild. Given the storyline based RP nature of this guild, it is very difficult to have characters coming and going as they please. Therefore, Suncrown values membership that is steadfast and constant.

Therefore, any Guild Member has the right to a total of three /ginvites, and no more. An example situation would be:

Bob applies to Suncrown and is accepted and incorporated, obtaining his guild tag with his first /ginvite. Bob goes inactive for a time with no notice and is /gkicked for inactivity. When Bob returns, he asks to rejoin Suncrown, goes through the process for reincorporation and receives his second /ginvite. Bob goes inactive with no notice again and is /gkicked for inactivity. When Bob returns, he asks to rejoin Suncrown, goes through the process for reincorporation and receives his third /ginvite. If Bob were to go inactive with no notice and be /gkicked again, there would be no option for him to reincorporate again.

In regards to quitting the guild (in-game command: /gquit): It is your right and privilege to /gquit at your discretion. Please keep in mind before you /gquit that there are certain consequences to your decision.

When a member of Suncrown quits in this manner, the former member may no longer use the Suncrown Ventrilo account. Additionally, the member's access to this site will be disabled. (The information contained within the account will remain stored on the site. It can be restored if the player rejoins the guild).

Suncrown strongly encourages its disgruntled members to discuss their concerns with an officer before quitting. Make the effort to talk out your problems before leaving the guild. If the officer does not satisfy your concerns, you are always free to discuss problems on the site's Suncrown Only forums in a mature manner. Quitting should always be kept as a last resort.

Players who have /gquit’ed may petition for reincorporation. They may only do this one time. The player should seek out and speak with an officer to start-up this process.

At that point, the member will be given a week long incubation period. If, at the end of that week-long period, the player still wishes to rejoin Suncrown, the officers will meet and cast a vote. If the majority of officers agree, the player will be readmitted into Suncrown with no restriction to their prior rank status.

In regards to Writing Your Character Out of Suncrown: Please note that if you exercise your right to /gquit, or you find yourself /gkicked from Suncrown for any reason, inactivity or otherwise, it is hoped and expected that you will tie up any loose ends that your character might have in plots at the time, as a common courtesy to this community of Role-Players. If no explanation for your character's absence is created within two (2) weeks of your /gquit or /gkick, then the Special Order House or Order Lead most closely associated with your character will be asked to tie up your character's loose ends for you.

In regards to Alternative Characters (a.k.a. Alts): Suncrown does not, and will not, restrict the number of alts you create or play within World of Warcraft. We do, however, limit the number of your alts that can carry Suncrown's guild tag.

Once the Guild Rank of "Member" has been reached, a player may choose to incorporate up to two Alts into Suncrown. This would make for a total of three (3) characters bearing a Suncrown guild tag.

Once the Guild Rank of "Veteran" has been reached, a player may choose to incorporate a third Alt into Suncrown. This would make for a total of four (4) characters bearing a Suncrown guild tag.

All Alts must be incorporated and maintained as your Suncrown Main would be. A Character Template, gone over and discussed with the House/Order Leader in question, is required first prior to role-playing this character, and the character is subject to Suncrown's inactivity policy. Don't neglect your alts!

Character Name/Character History Changes: A character’s history and background is what gets them into Suncrown, or sends them back to the storyboard. We have a detailed, and sometimes lengthy, recruiting and incorporation process. This process is one of the reasons that Suncrown has been recognized as one of the best RP guilds on The Venture Co. server. We wish to keep it that way. For this reason, we must regulate how a guild member can change their history.

However, there comes a time for some people when the character concept they are playing no longer suits them. For some, the prospect of levelling a new character is distasteful. Or sometimes we can’t get that name that we wanted at character generation, only to see it open up later. If you find yourself in this position, Blizzard now allows for a paid character name change. The following applies to any characters you may have in the guild.

When changing your character name only, and not the character’s history, then we ask that you notify the head of your House/Order of your desire to change your character name. In the event that your character doesn’t belong to a particular House /Order, then we ask you to notify any of the Officers.

When changing your character name and/or history we ask that you do the following:

  1. Inform the Special Order Member that governs your current character's House and/or Order and discuss your desires with them. As a change in your character’s history could well remove your character from a House or Order, it is only fair that the Special Order Member involved be informed. If you, yourself, are a Special Order Member, please discuss your desires with an Officer directly.

It is also understood that the catalyst for a character’s history change may be due to a conflict between a player and their Special Order Member. In exceptional cases such as these, a player should feel free to approach any Officer with their desires for a character history change. The Officer will then notify the Special Order Member involved.

  2. Changing your character’s history should be treated like incorporating an Alt character, and an incorporator should be approached about handing the incorporation.
  3. Once the new concept is approved, then update your character’s history (and name, if applicable) in your member file.

For any minor changes, like age, or “I was born here instead of here” are negligible and are not included in the scope of this policy.

For these kinds of changes we ask that you contact the Special Order Member that governs your character's House and/or Order and inform them of the changes you wish to make. If your character doesn’t belong to a particular House or Order, then any Officer would work as well. We ask this only to keep everyone on the same page, which is particularly important during plot development.

Should you decide not to follow this procedure, then that character will be kicked from the guild and you will have to wait for Suncrown to open up applications and go through the application procedure as a new applicant. This procedure also applies to all Alt characters as well, as Alt characters are also put through an incorporation process.

As with every rule, there are exceptions. This is one of the reasons that we ask you to contact the Special Order Member that governs your character's House and/or Order so that they can speak with an Officer and decide if the circumstances surrounding your history change warrants working around the procedure. Above all else, wishes to ensure that all of our players have a fantastic RP experience in our guild.

Finally, it would also be appreciated, but not required, if you make a post on the guild site so that all other guild members will be aware of the pending name change.

In regard to Gold purchasing and leveling services: Seeing as it is a breach of the Blizzard EULA, if we find indisputable evidence that a member of Suncrown has bought or sold gold, they will be booted from the guild and reported without any warnings.

Suncrown understands intermittent periods of other people playing your character for you, for very specific reasons. However, if it is discovered that someone else is leveling your character for you, you will be booted from the guild, especially if multiple attempts to discuss the matter with you through tells fail.

If you see anyone breaking policies, try to document it in some way and discuss it with an officer or the guild leader.
